As many of you are well aware, I’ve been in the adult business on and off since about 1998. When I entered the video side, there were really only a couple agents in town. The agents didn’t take money from the girls, the producers paid booking fees. A couple of people changed that with la direct being the highest profile agency to really change the way things were done.
With the golden age of Derrick, came the agent with way too much power. It is not hard for a responsible actress to manage her own bookings, verify companies, do everything today’s agent is supposed to do. In fact, I like making the arrangements because I never go to a set without having all the questions answered when I am booking. Ive been told that I can be almost anal retentive about negotiating details and maybe I am, but I prefer to know what I’m walking into so I can make an informed decision. With all this in mind, oc modeling and I are parting ways. I want to make it clear that I have the utmost respect for Jay, Sandra, Anthony and their whole crew. Everyone in the office always treated me with the utmost respect and made sure I had my booking sheets on time. I thank them for that. I’m old school as my good friend, Jonathan, says. I like being hands on in my career and feel that my needs are best served by doing things the way I always did them before. I am not saying agents are a bad thing, they can be a valuable resource. In my case, many of my relationships in the biz predate the existing agents. Messy.

Yesterday was an epic day for me. Long before I made the leap into the world of pornography, I learned who the girls were. I remember seeing ads for Brittany Andrews, Lisa Ann, and Julia Ann. They were all so beautiful, glamorous. I never really thought I would know these women, much less in some cases call them friends.
As I started doing scenes I learned more about the royalty of the business and there are definitely people that are considered to be a shining example. Nina Hartley and Ernest Greene are two of those performers, intellectuals, and activists that I consider an honor to know. They are the epitome of sexual performers with a keen sense of responsibility to be safe in both work and play. I have worked with Ernest a few times, but had never had the opportunity to work with Nina.
My wish came true yesterday. I couldn’t have been more excited, though I felt awful. The minute we started our scene my sinuses were the least of my worries. The one thing that truly stood out as we were shooting was the way Nina’s eyes lit up when she was introducing me to new toys. She had a glow about her that was infectious.
